Board of Directors

At inception, PBS formed a Board of Advisors comprised of original investors including Van Isley (CEO) and Troy Wilkerson (Wilmington Market President) and four non-employee owners. This was a carefully selected group of businessmen with valuable experience inside and outside the industry each of whom had longstanding relationships with Van. Two of the owners/advisors had previously owned and managed building supply operations which they later sold to a national consolidator. The other two advisors had been CPAs with Price Waterhouse where they crossed paths with Isley early in his career.

Today’s ownership team includes two of the original four non-employee owners and one additional non-employee owner who is an experienced real estate investor and has holdings in businesses in several different industries. Isley and Wilkerson continue to serve on the Board as does Steve Lochbaum, the Company’s CFO. who became an owner shortly after joining the company.

The Board of Advisors functions essentially as a full-fledged Board of Directors. Structured, formal, well-planned, quarterly meetings are held that include all owners. The level of sophistication brought about by the Board and the related interaction with the management team is atypical for a company the size of PBS.

Van Isley

CEO, Professional Builders Supply

Prior to founding Professional Builders Supply in 2003, Van served as a Regional Manager responsible for 15 locations in the Carolina’s at Stock Building Supply which was, at that time, the largest building material distributor in the country. After graduating from East Carolina University he worked as an Audit Manager and Director of Marketing in Price Waterhouse’s Raleigh office where he became a licensed CPA. Van has served on numerous boards including U.S. Fence, Garman Homes, Campbell Oil, Lumberman’s Merchandising Corporation, the Southern Building Material Association and the Raleigh/Wake Homebuilder’s Association. Van currently serves as the company’s CEO.

Steve Lochbaum

CFO, Professional Builders Supply

Steve joined Professional Builders Supply in 2006 with over 27 years of experience as CFO, Controller, Consultant and Certified Public Accountant. His background includes experience in Finance, Treasury, Information Systems, Human Resources and Administrative Management. Steve began his career at Price Waterhouse . After 8 years there, he left to spend 18 years with Morganite/Energy Conversion Systems. Steve currently serves at the company’s CFO. Steve is actively involved with the Association for Corporate Growth and the Boys Scouts of America.

John Merritt

President – Multifamily Division, Professional Builders Supply

Prior to joining Professional Builders Supply in 2019, John was the Managing Director of CBC Capitol, where he led Capitol Broadcasting Company’s investment in PBS in 2017. Previously John was an owner/operator of Envirolink, Inc. where he helped grown the business into the largest provider of water and sewer Public/Private Partnerships in North Carolina. John began his career developing real estate in North Carolina and Virginia. He graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and has served on the University’s Board of Visitors. John has been active in numerous community organizations including having served on the Executive Committee of the Triangle Urban Land Institute and on the Capstone Bank Advisory Board.

Dan McGrath

CFO, Capitol Broadcasting

Dan is currently Vice President & Chief Financial Officer of Capitol Broadcasting Company. Prior to that, he served as CFO for a venture-backed software company, and as Vice President of Finance for a $200 million technology and systems integration company, each in metropolitan Washington, D.C. Dan also worked for Price Waterhouse in both Raleigh and Washington, specializing principally in audit and IPO services for growth-oriented technology companies in the software, biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries. Dan is a graduate of the University Of Notre Dame and is active in several Triangle area charitable and civic organizations.

James F. Goodmon, Jr. (“Jimmy”)

President & COO, Capitol Broadcasting

Jimmy was named President and Chief operating officer of Capitol Broadcasting Company in September, 2017. He is a well respected leader of the next generation of broadcasters. Starting as a camera operator for the 5AM news at 16 years old, his career path has spanned across a multitude of television and radio station functions. From promotions, programming, and operations to selling radio and television spots, he has spent his career working in various roles at multiple Capitol Broadcasting Company entities. In his current role, he has operational responsibility for all Capitol Broadcasting Company divisions. Jimmy is a member of Capitol Broadcasting’s Board of Directors and serves on the company’s Executive Committee. He is very active in the community and serves on numerous boards. He is a graduate of Hampden-Sydney College and earned his M.B.A. at UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School.
